Here&#8217;s a direct quote from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/opinion\/feature\/2007\/03\/14\/keillor\/index_np.html\">his piece in Salon<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>The country has come to accept stereotypical gay men\u2014sardonic fellows with <b>fussy hair<\/b> who live in <b>over-decorated apartments<\/b> with a <b>striped sofa<\/b> and a <b>small weird dog<\/b> and who <b>worship campy performers<\/b> and go in for <b>flamboyance<\/b> now and then themselves. <b>If they want to be accepted as couples and daddies, however, the flamboyance may have to be brought under control<\/b>.<br \/>\nParents are supposed to stand in back and not wear chartreuse pants and<br \/>\nblack polka-dot shirts. That\u2019s for the kids. It\u2019s their show.[emphasis added]<\/p>\n<p>Dan Savage goes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestranger.com\/blog\/2007\/03\/fuck_garrison_keillor\">all kinds of ballistic<\/a> on Keillor&#8217;s ass, and rightfully so. Keillor may have some clever things to say about the president, but bigoted statements from a liberal are just as inexcusable as anything uttered by James Dobson or Ann Coulter.
