An almost imperceptible shift of the hips or tug on a leg can separate &#8220;just right&#8221; from &#8220;totally messed up&#8221;. My body&#8217;s unique curves and twists, combined with a form-fitting seat, only increase my positional sensitivity. To give you an idea of my fussiness, here&#8217;s a typical exchange between me and my nurse: <\/p>\n<p>ME: Would you move my pillow to the right? <\/p>\n<p>BELEAGUERED NURSE: Sure. How&#8217;s that? <\/p>\n<p>ME: Down a bit.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>NURSE: Okay. <\/p>\n<p>ME: Slightly to the left. <\/p>\n<p>NURSE: There?<\/p>\n<p>ME: Up a little.<\/p>\n<p>NURSE: That&#8217;s where it was to begin with. <\/p>\n<p>ME: Perfect. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For me and others with physical disabilities, comfort is a game of inches.
