{"id":3218,"date":"2012-03-28T20:39:36","date_gmt":"2012-03-29T01:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/the19thfloor.net\/?p=3218"},"modified":"2012-03-28T20:39:36","modified_gmt":"2012-03-29T01:39:36","slug":"health-care-reform-march-madness-day-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/the19thfloor.net\/?p=3218","title":{"rendered":"Health Care Reform March Madness: Day 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the Court&#8217;s conservative bloc seemed to seriously entertain the idea of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2012\/03\/28\/149556741\/for-health-care-will-one-parts-end-be-the-end-all\">overturning the entire Affordable Care Act<\/a>. Justice Kennedy, in particular, mused that striking down the entire law might show more &#8220;restraint&#8221; than allowing the rest of the law to stand. In other words, a majority of the court may view the evisceration of meaningful health care reform legislation as a mercy killing.<\/p>\n<p>I still don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s the likeliest outcome, but at this point, nothing the Court does would surprise me. Some believe that a Court decision striking down the ACA would be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0312\/74577.html\">a boon for the President&#8217;s re-election chances<\/a>. I&#8217;m not interested in scoring political points. I&#8217;d rather have some assurance that people like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/03\/28\/health-care-reform-supreme-court_n_1386238.html\">this woman<\/a> have access to affordable health care coverage.
