As the cuts take hold and people begin to notice the consequences, perhaps they will start pressing lawmakers for a smarter, less arbitrary method to reduce spending.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this assumes that the cuts will be sufficient to get voters\u2019 attention. On this point, I\u2019m skeptical. Even though the Obama administration is doing its best to illustrate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/white-house-releases-state-by-state-breakdown-of-sequesters-effects\/2013\/02\/24\/caeb71a0-7ec0-11e2-a350-49866afab584_story.html?hpid=z1\">how the sequester will have real-life consequences<\/a>, it may not happen quickly enough to register as a noticeable change. We are already accustomed to tolerating flight delays, understaffed government agencies, and underfunded schools.
