The Village<\/a> isn’t Shyamalan’s best effort. I can’t say much more without giving away major plot points, but the film loses steam about two-thirds of the way into the plot. I’m a bit disappointed because I’m usually a big fan of his movies. I suppose every director is entitled the occasional misstep and it will still earn a healthy gross. But I don’t think I’ll be buying the DVD for this one. However, Bryce Howard, Ron Howard’s daughter, does give a fine and convincing performances. It’s too bad the movie falls apart around her.

The journalist’s crime? Having an Indian name. The newspaper refused.
