Somehow, I’m not surprised by the Orwellian tendencies of some of our government lackeys.
For those of you who put money in the office pool, it looks like hostilities will commence sometime Wednesday evening. At this point, my attitude can basically be described as “just get the damn thing over with. ” We can march and sign more petitions, but I don’t think it matters anymore. I just hope this doesn’t get too ugly. I keep thinking someone will use this as an excuse to blow up the Mall of America. Not that anyone needs an excuse.
And this weird virus is freaking me out. I think I’ll just stop reading the news.

I have a week’s worth of vacation coming up next week. In that time, I hope to finish this mess of a story I’ve been writing. Other than that, I don’t have any real plans. For someone with a disability like mine, it’s easier to just stay home and not travel anywhere. The last time I flew somewhere, someone had to carry my ass on and off two malfunctioning planes before we took off. And that was before 9/11. If I tried to fly now, I’m almost certain I’d get strip searched because of my swarthy Semitic features. So, amidst all the madness, this cripple is sticking close to home.
Okay, it’s nearly 2 and I’ve been up since 6:30. I’m feeling myself slip into that trancelike state that comes with utter exhaustion. I better sign off before…

I was saddened to hear about the death of Mr. Rogers . I have vivid memories of watching his show right after Sesame Street on weekday afternoons. Those two shows had a profound influence on my personal set of morals. Watch out, parents, public television will turn your kid into a lifelong liberal. Remember The Electric Company? Morgan Freeman was on it and had this big-ass afro before he became a big shot movie star.

Remember that whole Afghanistan thing? Remember how we were going to lift those people into a new era of democracy? That’s okay, neither does the Bush administration. Yes, people of Iraq, prepare for liberation. Just don’t expect our poster boy for ADD to give a fuck about you in six months.
I got some CDs in the mail, including Diana Krall’s Live in Paris. If you like vocal jazz, check it out. Her cover of “A Case of You” is a lovely and melancholy torch song.

The massive demonstrations that occurred in cities around the world this weekend were remarkable. I�m nearly thirty and I don�t remember anything on this scale before in terms of organized political protest. Most of the networks gave it decent coverage with the exception of the tools over at Fox. I get a kick of how their motto, �Fair and Balanced,� really is just a code phrase for �Whatever the Administration Tells Us to Report.� And I�m getting tired of attempts to portray these demonstrators as �serial protesters.� I�m willing to bet many of the protesters voted for Bush in 2000.
I saw Daredevil with my friend Tim yesterday. It was passable. Ben Affleck just doesn�t have the chops to do dark and brooding. But the soundtrack wasn�t bad. And Jennifer Garner looks stunning in leather.
