The latest Disability Blog Carnival is up at Planet of the Blind. Someone submitted a couple of entries of mine, along with the following comment:
Even when Mark Siegel is trying to be cranky, he’s still funny, in that Minnesota kinda way.
How devastating. I’ve been trying so hard to get a jump-start on the years of cranky middle-aged bachelor-dom that lie ahead. I went out to the mall and bought a whole stack of Dockers. I’ve been watching lots of golf on TV. I have a ginormous leather sofa on backorder at Macy’s. But it just isn’t taking. Maybe if I force myself to listen to an entire Norah Jones CD…
Also, please define funny as it pertains to the “Minnesota kinda way”. And don’t you dare utter the words “Garrison Keillor”. Because that kind of shit just is not cool.

I’ll fess up, that was my comment to the Kuusistos in recommending a post by you. I LOVE the upper Midwest, lived there for three winters (in Madison WI, which is most certainly not Wisconsin, but getting there). Would even consider moving back if it didn’t involve stuffing children into snowsuits.
I wasn’t thinking GK, honest. I wouldn’t. (I was actually thinking of a friend who’s originally from Minnesota, who is also a lawyer…. wait, maybe it’s lawyer humor, not Minnesota humor?)
I’m so relieved to know that Penny “fessed up”. We (Steve and I) would never dream of making such a derogatory remark – even if we had known about the “stack of Dockers”. But how to explain that to you Mark with out blowing Penny’s cover? We love Penny.
I never would never lie on a lawyer’s blog… I just don’t need another thing to worry about. Thank goodness this all out in the open now.
Oh oh. I just realized I said “never would never” in my last comment. I tried to retrieve the message but it was too late. Now you’ll never take me seriously…
As a teacher who often lets the young ones perform something sprouting from their own imagination, It has struck me on several occasions that really good humour must be something typically male!!
That’s one thing boys (or men) have got which compensates for the fairly long list of natural gifts (some) women get..but which (most) boys lack.
