After 25 years of using the same model of ventilator, I’ve completely switched to the newer and smaller Trilogy. It feels a bit different than what I’m used to, but I’m sure I’ll adapt soon enough. But I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for the sturdy old LP-10. It accompanied me from early adolescence to middle age without failing me once. It even survived being dropped a few times. When I build my panic room to keep out the rampaging zombie hordes, I’ll stock it with a few LP-10s.

  1. I hear really good things about the Trilogy! Hope it works well for you!

  2. I switched to the Trilogy in June. It’s okay, but there’s a few things about it I really don’t like. 1.) This may not be much of an issue for you in Minnesota, but the ventilator has a high temperature warning alarm that goes off when it’s 94 degrees or above. That cramps my style since I love sitting outside during the hot Kansas City summers. 2.) The alarm isn’t very loud in general and neither is the remote alarm which only has a 2 foot cord (stupid I know). That’s a problem when one lives with their parents who usually like to sleep at night. 3.) I love the interchangeable batteries but it would be a lot better if they each lasted 6 hours instead of 3. Also, there’s no way to charge them without the ventilator. They make an external charger for the batteries but it’s $1,500.

  3. I find it interesting that you’ve never had at least one problem with the LP10. I had one flat out fail for no apparent reason I could see. That was really the only time it let me down though. The other instance of one failing was completely my fault and involved rain. I’m fairly hard on ventilators sometimes… 🙂
